NSW couple arrested after allegedly assaulting a three-year-old boy

A man and woman have been charged with assaulting a three-year-old boy after he was allegedly taken to hospital with bruises covering his body.

NSW Police received reports a child in Nimbin, in the state’s north, was being assaulted by people known to him.

Police went to the child’s home and took him to Lismore Base Hospital, in the state’s north, after they allegedly found him covered in bruises.

A 57-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were charged with the attacks at 3.40pm on Thursday.

The man was charged with breaching an apprehended domestic violence order and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail and was in Lismore Local Court on Friday.

The woman was charged with the same offenses, however, she was granted bail.

She will appear in Lismore Local Court on July 27.

Alternative care arrangements have been made for the child.
