Real Madrid announce 10 to 20 percent pay cut for first-team stars

Real Madrid players have consented to accept a decrease in salary for the remainder of the period, the club declared on Wednesday.

Madrid gave an announcement affirming that: ‘Players and mentors from both the football and b-ball groups, drove by their chiefs, together with the club’s primary administrators, have consented to intentionally bring down their pay rates during the current year somewhere in the range of 10 and 20 percent relying upon the manner in which the 2019-20 season wraps up.’

On the off chance that the season continues the compensation cut will be only 10 percent.

But if the season cannot be completed the reduction in wages will be 20 percent.

The pay-cut taken by the club’s highest earners appears to have protected the club’s remaining employees from Spain’s temporary redundancy and wage-reduction scheme known as ‘ERTE’ used by other La Liga sides.

The Madrid statement added: ‘This decision, adopted by players, coaches and employees, avoids traumatic measures affecting the rest of the staff.’
