Ex-Information minister, Alex Akinyele, dies at 81

Nigeria’s Ex-Minister of Information, Alex Akinyele, has kicked the bucket. He was 81-years of age.

His passing was reported by one of his children, Constantine Akinfolarin Akinyele, on Facebook a few hours back. As per Constantine, the Ondo boss spent away Thursday night November fourteenth after a short sickness.

With thanks giving for his life, I am tragic to report we lost our dad and granddad Chief Alexander Opeyemi Akinyele prior today after a short sickness May his spirit find happiness in the hereafter. He will be remembered fondly by his kids, great kids, loved ones” he composed

An alum of English Language from the University of Ife now Obafemi Awolowo University, the late Akinyele was Minister of Information during the General Ibrahim Babangida organization. He proceeded to turn into the director of the Nigerian Sports Commission.

A prepared advertising pro, Akinyele was the pioneer representative of the Nigerian Customs Service. He was secretary-general and later leader of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
